You might not know it, but May 25 is Geek Pride Day. Why? There are a few reasons:
- It's Towel Day, which is the day two weeks after Douglas Adams (author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) passed in 2001.
- It's the anniversary of the day Star Wars: A New Hope was first released (in 1977).
- It's a special day in Terry Pratchett's Discworld universe. (On Glorious 25 May, characters wear lilac and hard-boiled eggs.)
Think Geek has made it easy to officially show your pride: Just download, print out and wear one (or more, if you're really feeling it) of these little guys. Might I suggest sticker paper?
Of course, today is also Memorial Day. While you're celebrating your nerdiness, make sure to also take a moment to remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms (geeky ones included!).
Having a towel means that you may also have had a whole host of other items.. that you simply just 'misplaced'.
ReplyDeleteOf course!
ReplyDeleteDidn't even know such a day existed! I'd say I celebrated appropriately (even without knowing it) by getting our second D&D group all planned out and rolling my new character for it. :D
ReplyDeleteNice! :)
